So you got one of my cards and you came to my site. You want to see some of my prior work, and my website is the best place for that, right?
Well, I keep waiting for that day where I'm gonna gather all of my great quilt pictures and get them online, and that day keeps slipping away from me. But I've handed out enough cards to some of you that you are going to search for me, and I won't be here. It's time to fix that, so the site is live. Now I have incentive to get some pictures up for you to see!
One of my quilting mentors (Jess, from Longarm League) says that we need to take Imperfect Action. In other words, let's not wait until the site is perfect to launch - let's get things moving, and then we'll improve as we go. It is now time for me to put that into motion.
Besides, the site will never be PERFECT anyway, right? It will always need a tweak somewhere. It's just like us - we aren't perfect either. There was only one perfect man to ever walk this earth, and although I want to try to be just like Him, I will fall woefully short of that every day. So, The Quilting Bees site is live, and we'll get this journey started!
This week had a lot of Imperfect Action in it. I typically don't rush when I do quilts - when you hurry too much, mistakes happen. I had to hurry, and one of my sewing machines broke as if to say, "Watch out Kyle - don't go too fast!" I had to machine bind a quilt. I normally like to hand bind, but there wasn't time. I had to change tactics and make it work, and it was not as perfect as I wanted it to be. But this quilt was for a silent auction for my kid's youth group at church, so I got to be around it when people were looking at it. There were a lot of compliments, which I humbly appreciated.
But you know who did NOT make a comment at the table? The Quilt Police. (Hint: They don't exist anyway.) But even if they did, it would be ok. My friend Angela Walters always says, "Finished is better than perfect." If this quilt finds a loving home, then it will be perfect anyway. So it was ok that it was 'just' machine bound, because it came out exactly like it was supposed to. And yes, it got to the table on time and it's there for anyone to see in person - but there's no picture here on the site.
So Imperfect Action today, pictures next.
